Briar Rose is the name of the protagonist in Grimm’s version of Sleeping Beauty! The story is about a king and a queen who hold a great feast to celebrate the birth of their one and only child, a baby girl. The queen insists that thirteen fairies be invited to the event, but when one of the fairies is cut from the guest list, she crashes the party anyway and for the parents’ slight, she curses Briar Rose, declaring that she will die on her 15th birthday! It is only by the grace of one of the other fairies that the curse is altered, and Briar Rose instead falls into a deep slumber for one hundred years, only to be awakened by the kiss from - who else - a prince!

In homage to this somewhat dark fairytale, we present this sage-and-olive two-toned shantung. It is festooned with pink flowers outlined in navy blue, all of which are connected together by silver ivy! Each flower measures 2” x 2” and the fabric has a 15.5” repeat. 54” wide.

In Blue Christmas, Elvis Presley laments spending the holidays apart from a loved one, contrasting the season’s traditional joy with his personal heartbreak. The song’s wistful melody, heartfelt lyrics, and The King’s soulful delivery capture the bittersweet emotions many feel during this time, making it resonate across generations.

In Elvis’ honor, this stunning misty blue 54” shantung is embroidered with bold, brilliant chains of cobalt blue flowers and vines! Each flower measures 3/4” in diameter, and the fabric has a 2.5” repeat.

“Glinda” is our final embroidered fabric, bringing our 12 Days of Christmas to a close! Reminiscent of the unforgettable peachy-pink princess dress that Glinda the Good Witch wears in the 1939 musical “The Wizard of Oz,” this lovely warm pink-and-white gingham shantung is adorned with tiny embroidered pink and yellow dots. The checks measure just 0.25” and the fabric is 54” wide.

No Christmas is complete without a reference to Judy Garland (and, by extension, “The Wizard of Oz”).
