The word for "wave" in Japanese, this frothy vortex of ocean blue and white evokes that iconic Japanese pattern of layered concentric circles that form arches of waves, and symbolize good luck, power, and resilience. Nami were used as symbols on clothing, particularly kimonos, for over one thousand years, and throughout Japanese history it has also been used in ceramicware, lacquerware, and more recently, graphic design!
