Also adapted into a chamber operetta in 1895 by Jules Massenet, “Cendrillon” begins with a king who orders his son to find a wife. After considering a number of other women, an unknown beauty, Cendrillon in all her finery, enters the room to great surprise. The whole court - except for Madame de la Haltière and her daughters - are charmed by the beautiful stranger, and the Prince immediately falls in love with her…This ethereal silk shantung features a light cream base embroidered with a baroque floral vine pattern consisting of brown dahlias and shimmery buff-colored vines that really catch the light! Each dahlia measures just 1” x 1” and the fabric has an 11.25” repeat. 54” wide.
