Emperor Nero, who ruled Rome from 54 to 68 AD, is often remembered for his tyrannical reign, extravagant lifestyle, and artistic ambitions. He was strongly associated with the color black, a hue he preferred in his personal attire and surroundings, symbolizing his mourning for his perceived sufferings and perhaps reflecting his darker, complex personality. Nero's affinity for black contrasted sharply with the traditional Roman use of white and bright colors, underscoring his desire to stand apart and his unconventional approach to imperial image.

Draping yourself in this deep black moiré silk is akin to channeling an enigmatic and commanding presence like Emperor Nero. The luxurious waves and ripples of the moiré pattern mirror his own intricate and powerful influence, imbuing the wearer with a sense of sovereign confidence and undeniable allure…

This stunning 100% silk jacquard has a 28.5” repeat and is 54” wide.

*Important: this fabric has some observable slubs when it is oriented sideways. Jacquard uses raw silk because it requires weight and a textured look.

Beautiful moire’ that can really only be appreciated in person.   Do yourself a favor and at least pick up a larger swatch.
